Hi, I’m Curtis Archer, a Product Design Leader with over a decade of experience crafting digital experiences and driving innovation. I thrive on collaboration, tackling complex challenges, and turning ambitious ideas into intuitive, impactful products.
Currently, I lead UX Design at Jungle Scout, where I help shape the future of e-commerce tools.
Let’s connect and build something great!
2009 | Discovered Design
I started at Medicine Hat College, initially pursuing photography. But everything changed when I took a typography class. I was hooked on layout design—finding joy in making information clearer and more engaging. That’s when I shifted my focus from photography to design.
2011 | Design Internship
My first internship wasn’t glamorous—I was the Graphic Designer at a UPS Store, creating business cards and pamphlets for local businesses. It taught me a crucial lesson: talking about the design they way you did in school did not fly, I'd have to learn how to discuss design through my customer's lens versus my own.
2012 | My First Design Job
After earning my degree, I joined Kinetic Design, a small ad agency in Saskatoon. I designed billboards, pamphlets, and magazine ads, primarily for local car dealerships—my first real taste of working in a fast-paced creative environment.
2013 | Learning Web Design
Moving to Calgary, I became a Graphic Designer at Blair & Co., an ad agency focused on real estate marketing. While designing ads, logos, and websites for home developers, I discovered my passion for digital experiences.
2015 | Owning Web Design services
As Blair & Co. grew, so did my role. I took full ownership of web design projects, managing a portfolio of live websites and optimizing them for conversion and engagement.
2017 | My Introduction to Product Design
Recognizing a gap in the market, I designed and launched an in-house lead gathering and reporting tool, sold as an add-on for real estate websites. This was my first experience with product design—and I loved it.
2018 | Senior Product Designer
My next move took me to Vancouver as a Senior Product Designer at Jungle Scout. I worked as an embedded designer on a sprint team, launching new features like Jungle Scout’s first Amazon Listing Builder.
2019 | UX Design Manager
I transitioned into leadership, initially managing two designers while still contributing as an IC. As the team grew to four, I shifted to full-time management, driving design consistency, efficiency, and team growth.
2021 | Strategic Impact
I played a key role in developing Jungle Scout’s first enterprise offering, a net-new product for a brand-new user persona. Leading a contract UX designer and two other designers, we designed version 1 from the ground up.
2023 | Evolving How We Work
Partnering with the Director of Product and Director of Engineering, I helped shift Jungle Scout’s product organization from a waterfall approach to a dynamic, iterative model. This transformation empowered sprint teams to make daily decisions to acheive their goals, rather than relying on top-down directives.
2024 | Shifting ICP
As Jungle Scout shifted its Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) from New Sellers to Established Amazon Sellers, I led the design of a new product vision that redefined how we market ourselves to attract this audience. Learn more about this product here.
